Catskill, NY: Direct from the rotunda of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, artist Jason Hackenwerth’s AVIARY (reimagined), sculpted from 6,000 latex balloons measuring 35’ tall and 29’ in diameter, commissioned by Works & Process for their 30th Anniversary Gala, landed in the Hudson River village of Catskill. Through Masters on Main Street, the work was reinstalled throughout the village on view for one month opening April 12, 2014.
Major #CatskillBalloons installations include an 20′ tentacled igloo shape at the a Bridge Street Theatre hosting weekly Stories Under the Big Balloons for kids and a jazz closing night party; and a glowing storefront installation at 404 Main Street; the lobby of the Greene County Office building; and the historic Catskill Point.
Jason Hackenwerth’s studio assistant, Leah Blair presented a lecture on the artist’s work and a hands-on workshop for 400 elementary school students to make a giant collaborative sculpture for the school’s cafeteria.
